Merchant Monday: The Wreck

In the heart of Auckland Fish Market is The Wreck. A snazzy bar serving up beverages that compliments every eatery in the market.

Their extensive beverage list has something for everyone – providing a variety of craft beers, bottled beers, cocktails, special winter cocktails, house wines, premium wines, carafés, low and no ABV cocktails, and house made sodas.

Tell us a little bit about the Wreck?

The Wreck is the only bar for the Auckland Fish Market. Some of the eateries provide a small drinks list, but if they are looking for a wider choice – The Wreck is the place to go. We serve beautiful cocktails, craft beers, tall tales and our New Zealand wine list covers everything from house wines to higher-end premium wines. 

Our daily happy hour also boasts a variety of unmissable specials, including an $8 mulled wine!

Do you only serve beverages?

We also provide snack food from Bang Bang Kitchen, so that when our customers come up and order their drink of choice, if they want snacks to accompany it then they can order everything in one go. 

So let’s say your customer wants to have lobster fried rice or some chicken wings – they can order it with their drink and they will be given a buzzer to pick it up when it’s ready. We want to make our customers experience as easy as possible and keep them happy. 

It’s also a nice way to introduce them to food that they may not have tried otherwise. 

What’s it like being based in the Auckland Fish market?

We love it. People often want to go out for a sit-down meal, and then are faced with choosing a cuisine. “Are we going to go for Italian food? Or for Korean food?” But here, we have a range of cuisines, and you aren’t limited to just one. Meaning that if you have a few people wanting different cuisines, you can come together here and don’t have to order the same thing. Everyone’s happy. 

We have a free-hour car park which is great for when people want to come in on the weekend. Parking in the city can be expensive, and we don’t want anyone to miss out. The free parking means people can come and enjoy the events and activities, without that worry. 

Do you hold any events?

We have events across Auckland Fish Market which are great because just think about it – you have a live band here, face-painting over there, all with great food and drinks under the sunroof. It’s an amazing venue where adults can relax and kids can go enjoy the activities we put on.
